Trusting God With the Impossible

How to Trust God with the Impossible
Based on 2 Chronicles 20

In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat and Judah faced an impossible situation. Three nations united against them with an overwhelming army. Fear spread quickly, but Jehoshaphat did not call for weapons or strategies. He called the nation to fast and seek the Lord.

Like King Asa before him, Jehoshaphat fully trusted the power of the Lord, relied completely on Him, and cried out to Him above all else. In his prayer he remembered God’s faithfulness through Israel’s history, but his closing words still echo across the centuries:

“We are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us.
We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
(2 Chronicles 20:12)

That humble, faith-filled prayer essentially said, “God, I am powerless to overcome, but You have the power to do the impossible. So we do not know what to do except keep our eyes on You. We are waiting and watching for You to move, and we will glorify You when You do.”

No matter what our immediate or long-term future holds as a church, a community, or a nation, this must be our posture: absolute humility and absolute faith. When we recognize we cannot fix what is in front of us, we are in the perfect position to see God’s power at work.
Whatever you face today—financial struggles, health challenges, broken relationships, or fear—pray with the same heart:
“Lord, I am powerless in myself. I do not know what to do, but my eyes are on You.”
Faith is not about having all the answers. It is about knowing where to look. Lift your eyes to the Lord. He is still the same God who fought for Judah, and He will fight for those who trust Him. As a church family, we are trusting God to do the impossible this week. Let’s cry out to the Lord in faith, believing He will make a way for us through the generosity of His people.
